Giacomo Roghi was awarded the First Prize in the Conducting category of the 2025 Season 2 Golden Prestige International Music Competition.

Can you introduce yourself and share how you got into music?

My name is Giacomo Roghi and I come from the province of Siena, in Italy, where I live, even if I studied in Siena, Bologna, Perugia and Rovigo. My interest in the world of music was born in 1995, when I decided to start studying an instrument to be able to play in the small wind orchestra that was present in my hometown. Since then many things have changed for the better, especially thanks to the exquisite people I have met in my life, in particular I thank Prof. Rosalba Deriu who has been able to fuel this passion of mine.

Could you tell us more about your award-winning work? For instance, how did you prepare it, bring it to life, or any interesting stories behind the scenes?

The work that was awarded in this competition was the fruit of hard work of preparation, both from the point of view of musical analysis and interpretation and from the technical instrumental point of view, for which the credit also goes to the members of the orchestra.

What do you believe defines a great Conductor, and how do you incorporate your unique style into your music?

I believe that a director can be defined as great when he manages to make everyone understand his intentions without effort, from this point of view he vaguely resembles a teacher.

Would you like to share your experience participating in our competition and anyone you'd like to thank?

Participation in this competition was a thoughtful choice. I found the registration method and the management of requests very comprehensive and simple; it is not the first competition I have participated in and I must say that compared to many other competitions in this one I found every form of support for any questions or requests in addition to great professionalism. I must necessarily thank one person for the result obtained, who helped me in the preparation and training, Prof. Paolo Ciacci.
