Anastasiia Ledovskaia (LEMY) received First Prize for her vocal and composition Boy at the UK International Music Competition 2025, Season 3. The competition took place from 30 April to 30 July 2025, and results were announced in August.

In this interview, Anastasiia shares insights into the inspiration behind her song Boy and her creative process in composing, producing, and performing the track and its accompanying music video.
Can you share what inspired your song BOY and what story or message you wanted to convey through both the music and the video?
Anastasiia Ledovskaia (LEMY):
"This is one of my early songs. From the beginning, it was just me and the guitar. I created the melody and lyrics, then my sound engineer and I developed it into the full song. The track explores my relationship with someone at that time ('Don't need your heart I need your brain').
The video required tremendous effort from a large crew. Daniel Kim directed it. He's very famous in Russia and Europe. We filmed for an entire day and night without sleep or breaks, which was an incredible experience. We rented a cottage for the shoot, and I changed my makeup six times with the crew's help."
What was your process for composing and producing BOY? How did you approach both the music and your performance for the video?
Anastasiia Ledovskaia (LEMY):
"We had an earlier version of the song, but at one point we completely disliked it. After struggling with it, we changed everything. We added more synths and hip hop vibes, and 'Boy' became much more interesting.
I'd been playing this song on guitar by myself for ages. When I heard the new version, I was absolutely stunned. It was amazing.
For the 'Boy' video, I tried to prepare mentally because it was my first time working with such a large crew. I was very nervous, but the result speaks for itself."

Since you performed in the video yourself, how did the filming and recording process go? Were there any interesting or challenging moments you encountered while creating the music video?
Anastasiia Ledovskaia (LEMY):
"It was challenging. By the end, everyone was hungry and exhausted, but it proved to be a very rewarding experience. I was thrilled to work with the brilliant actor who appears at the end of the video. He is a professional performer.
Daniel Kim is incredibly easy to work with, very focused and supportive. We faced numerous challenges with costumes and weather. It was snowing and cold at times."
Would you like to share your experience participating in our competition and thank anyone?
Anastasiia Ledovskaia (LEMY):
"I'd love to thank my team for making this happen. My mother for introducing me to music at a very young age. My sound engineer and producer Vlad Mazur. Everyone I've worked with, and all my muses."

Biography
I've been creating music since 2018, developing my sound over six years of work. My musical journey began shortly after a shortly after a transformative visit to London in 2017, and what started as guitar compositions in my Moscow flat has evolved into a project spanning multiple releases, music videos, and live performances.
My journey continued with the release of my second album 'НА ВЕСЬ МИР' (To the Whole World) in May 2025. This marked my first full Russian-language album and represents artistic evolution. The album showcases my expanding creative palette whilst maintaining the emotional honesty that defines my work.
My previous English-language releases include the debut EP 'Land of Light' (2024). Singles like 'Holy Ghost of Tomorrow', 'Road to the Moon', and 'Our Love is Dead' explore atmospheric soundscapes that work for both casual listening and deeper exploration.
