Could you tell us about your journey in music, including how you started singing, the teachers who have guided you, how you prepared for your award-winning performance, your typical practice routine, and anyone you would like to thank for supporting you along the way?

Manasvi Jain:

"I give all of the credit of my success, to my beloved teachers, Camille and Ashwin, without whom this would only remain a dream.

I started singing Indian Classical, an ancient form of singing at the age of 3. I was taking private classes. Finding my friend performing amazingly at a musical theatre concert, I discovered my inner calling. At first, I started working on my voice on vocal technique with musical theatre repertoire and I found it to be my passion. When my vocal technique became more stable, my teachers found that I could step into the advanced stage of classical and Baroque repertoire. I have been studying voice for 2 and a half years now, 2-3 classes a week. I am always keen on enhancing my time limits, during classes, because I feel it is my passion. I would love to be an opera singer and perform on beautiful stages, as it is a joy I cannot express enough.

The aria "UNA DONNA QUINDICI ANNI" by Mozart, is the first classical piece I have been seriously working on. First I was intimidated by the virtousity of this challenging piece as there were a lot of technical points I had to work on. It was ready in a month, because I had to perform it in a coming concert. My teacher jokingly remarked, "Don't sing like Elphaba!!!" I had a lot of fun and attained a lot of experience because of this wonderful platform to share our talents and voices worldwide.

I would love to participate in WOMCO competitions more and enhance my knowledge , creativity and sense of musicality. I loved this opportunity as I live in a place where we have no exposure to this beautiful art. I will work very hard and try to immerse myself into this endless sea of music. Thank you again for giving us the opportunity and amazing platform for sharing voices and talents."
