Shanghai Jinshan Youth Wind Orchestra, an ensemble of talented young musicians from the Shanghai Jinshan District Youth Activity Center, has earned First Prize in the Young Artist (Age 14–17) category at the Vivaldi International Music Competition 2025. Under the guidance of their teacher Lu Ling Huang, the orchestra has demonstrated remarkable dedication, teamwork, and musical excellence. The competition ran from 19 June to 19 September 2025, with results announced on 8 October 2025.

The orchestra shared their journey and the meaning behind this achievement:

"We are a young student wind orchestra founded in 2020, based in Jinshan District, a suburban area on the outskirts of Shanghai. Unlike the city center, where many student wind orchestras are already well established, opportunities for children in the suburbs to experience ensemble music are relatively limited. We started this orchestra to give these students the chance to feel the joy and power of playing music together. When the students learned that we had won First Prize, they were truly overjoyed — some couldn’t stop smiling, and many immediately shared the news with their families and teachers. It was such a pure and touching moment of pride. Our orchestra belongs to the Jinshan Youth Activity Center, which even published a special post to celebrate this achievement — a wonderful recognition of the students’ hard work and our team’s shared dedication."

Over the years, the students have grown up together with the orchestra. From level 0.5 to 3.5, they have taken steady steps forward. As they’ve matured, so has the orchestra. Both students and teachers share a deep sense of love and mission toward this ensemble — and that, they believe, is what truly defines them.

The orchestra’s achievement reflects the dedication of all its members, including Zhu Xiuqing, Ma Ruodi, Zhu Xinyi, Xu Ziqian, Chen Jining, Yang Xincheng, Wu Tong, Wang Zihan, Zhou Xinzhi, Fei Zhuyun, Chen Nuo, Su Jiatong, Zou Xinrui, Xu Jinyang, Shang Xinchi, Wu Zhenyi, Zhou Yuyu, Peng Shuyan, Yu Longhao, Xiang Bowen, Han Xu, Dong Jiangtao, Chen Zehuan, Gu Rongkun, Dong Duyang, Shi Zhijie, Shen Yifan, Zhou Zhizhou, Huang Yuanzhen, Zhang Hengming, Zhang Chixuan, Zhu Yanni, Huang Junzhi, Feng Yichen, Wang Siyi, Han Sirui, Li Chenjun, Yan Haichen, Sun Zhejing, Xie Mengyuan, Wang Mengyuan, Yang Ziqi, Yao Jinhang, Wang Hui, Zhou Xuanyu, Zhou Jiajun, Xia Hao, Zhou Junxi, Peng Zhenfei, Li Jinyu, Li Huiyan, Chen Sicheng, Yuan Yinuo, He Ru, and Wu Chenxuan.
