Could you share the background of your award-winning piano CD Album Christmas Impressions and More? When and where did you record it, and how did you choose the repertoire?

Monika Sroczyńska:

"For as long as I can remember, I've enjoyed using motifs from Christmas carols and Christmas songs in my compositions. The simpler the motif, the more you can do with it! Besides Christmas pieces, the album also includes unincorporated pieces based on my own motifs. I recorded the album at the Concert Hall of the F. Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz last December."

Recording a CD is very different from live performance—it becomes a lasting artistic statement. What were the biggest artistic or technical challenges you encountered while creating Christmas Impressions and More, and how do you hope listeners will connect with it in the digital era?

Monika Sroczyńska:

"Recordings are an important element of promotion in the artistic world. My compositions are then available to people around the world, not just those who can attend the concert. You have to be very well prepared for the recording, because the awareness that you're being recorded is also stressful. You want to play perfectly. You can record the material several times and make cuts and pastes, but the greatest satisfaction comes when you get it right the first time."
